In this edition of Stupid Criminals we find a lawyer who writes a book on how to beat a DUI didn't follow his own advice on how to get out of a DUI.

According to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, 59-year-old Tom Hudson of Sarasota, Florida is a lawyer who specializes in beating DUIs.  He even wrote a book called "The Drinker's Guide to Driving:  The Secrets of DUI From One of America's Top DUI Lawyers".

So what happened to him last week will not be good for business.

Tom was pulled over last Sunday when cops caught him going 15 miles-an-hour over the speed limit, and swerving.  They said he had slurred speech and seemed drunk.

He refused to take a breathalyzer test, so they arrested him.  That all follows the usual DUI lawyer advice:  If you think you're drunk, refuse the test because it gives them less evidence to use against you in court.

But then when they got to the station, Tom apparently forgot everything else he advises his clients.  He agreed to a breathalyzer, and blew a .12 which is way over the legal limit of .08.

Then he did something even more contradictory to his own advice, and agreed to a blood test.  Those are much harder to discredit in court than the breath tests and it will make it much harder for him to beat the DUI charge.
