Almost a year to the day after the Bataclan Theatre in Paris served as the site of a heinous terrorist attack, the venue is set to reopen on Nov. 12 — with a special benefit show from Sting, who's pledged to donate all proceeds to charity.

"In reopening the Bataclan, we have two important tasks to reconcile," Sting wrote in a statement published at his official site. "First, to remember and honor those who lost their lives in the attack a year ago, and second, to celebrate the life and the music that this historic theater represents. In doing so, we hope to respect the memory as well as the life-affirming spirit of those who fell. We shall not forget them."

Sting's Nov. 12 performance is just the first in a series of performances that have already been booked at the Bataclan. Pete Doherty is scheduled to play at the club on Nov. 16-17, followed by Youssou N'Dour on Nov. 18, Nada Surf on Dec. 2, and Mz on Dec. 3. "The work of renovation of the Bataclan have started," the owners announced in a previous press release. "They consist of the rehabilitation of all the infrastructure and facilities of the room without, however, changing the layout of this one. "We're going to try to preserve its warmth and friendliness. We want to maintain the spirit, popular and festive, who has always been hers."

For his set, which will find him performing as a trio with guitarist Dominic Miller and drummer Vinnie Colauita, Sting is expected to perform a selection of songs that includes cuts from his newest solo release, 57th & 9th, due in stores Nov. 11.
