If you’re one of those people who can’t get enough ‘Star Wars: Episode 7’ spoilers, first, might we recommend our weekly WookieeleaksStar Wars’ round up? With that shameless plug out of the way, let us now offer you ‘Star Wars’ spoiler addicts some advice from Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill. CHILL OUT.

Hamill has a supporting role in ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ and he sat down with the Los Angeles Times to talk about that film. It obviously didn’t take long for talk to turn ‘Star Wars’ and how anticipation has reached a fever pitch. Here, Hamill offers advice to the ravenous fans and explains why they’re being so secretive:

I wish people would just relax. We’re not trying to play games with people. We just want to maximize their experience at the movies where it should be seen and not have it leaked over the Internet. Believe me, it will be here before you know it. Forget about it, that’s my advice. Look forward to all the summer movies. I’m telling you, it’s just a movie. These people that build it up in their minds like it’s going to be the second coming of, I don’t know what — they’re bound to be disappointed.

It’s just a movie? JUST A MOVIE?! It’s hard to take the advice of “forget about it” and “it will be here before you know it,” especially in this day and age, when there is a 24-hour news cycle and social media is very quick to remind us of anything we may have forgotten about. To really forget that there’s a new ‘Star Wars’ movie coming out this year would require most movie fans to chuck their computers and phones in a dumpster and moving to a secluded cabin in the woods. It’s a nice thought, but it’s not happening.

Listen, we understand that J.J. Abrams is trying to preserve this precious theatrical experience, but like it or lump it, spoilers are a part of our society. Heck, they really always were, it’s just that technology has caught up with the spoilers and now they’re easier to get and easier to proliferate. We’re not advocating for a live blog of all the film’s major plot points, but there has to be some happy medium. Even with all the secrecy and security, ‘Star Wars’ spoilers are all over the internet.

‘Star Wars: Episode 7’ opens in theaters on December 18, so you have plenty of time to “forget about it”.
