On the third day of ShipRocked 2016, fans woke up in sunny Costa Maya, Mexico, while others who decided to stay on the boat enjoyed the tranquility and peace of having the Norwegian Pearl to themselves. Bands and fans who got off the ship either explored the ruins, shopped around the port or hit the beach for a fun, alcohol-filled game of Beach Wars with Like a Storm.

After our stomachs were filled with booze and guacamole we returned to the ship to work it off with an energetic performance by Nonpoint on the Deck Stage. Islander and Seether also performed later in the evening, Red Sun Rising was also supposed to play on the outside stage but due to high winds their set was canceled.

Over in the Spinnaker Lounge there was a very cool artist question and answer session with Danny Worsnop of We Are Harlot, Zoltan Bathory of Five Finger Death Punch, Lzzy Hale of Halestorm, dummer Vinnie Paul of Hellyeah, Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson and Shaun Morgan of Seether. The artists shared stories of jobs they had before they were musicians and with half of the musicians born and raised in other countries there were hilarious stories of growing pains both in and out of the music industry. Ms. Hale and Vinnie Paul expressed enthusiasm and interest in a Hellyeah and Halestorm tour sometime in the future.

After the Q&A, Ellefson had to hustle over to the Stardust Theater where all-star crew The Stowaways would hit the stage. Some highlights of the set included Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike” which featured Lzzy Hale and Meta Dead of the Dead Deads on vocals as well as Ellefson on bass and former Guns N' Roses guitarist Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal. Art of Dying vocalist Jonny Hetherington and P.O.D. guitarist Marcos Curiel teamed up for a tribute to the late Scott Weiland to perform Stone Temple Pilots's “Vasoline.” The talented Arizona teenagers of Doll Skin also performed with the all star band as singer Sydney Dolezal and guitarist Alex Snowden cranked out the KISS anthem "Detroit Rock City." Fans rocked out to Nonpoint’s Elias Soriano belting out “Bulls on Parade,” Ellefson jamming to Megadeth’s “Peace Sells” with the almighty Tim “Ripper” Owens on the mic and everyone sang out to Metallica’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls.” All of the performers hit the stage for the final song to celebrate the one and only Lemmy Kilmister to Motorhead’s anthem “Ace of Spades.”

It was a busy day for frontwoman Lzzy Hale as she performed with Halestorm later in the night for a powerful set at Stardust Theater. Five Finger Death Punch members Jason Hook and Jeremy Spencer were in the crowd checking out the set as well.

Other performances of the night included a sweat filled performance by the one and only Avatar who always know how to heat things up. Like A Storm and Stitched Up Heart ripped through their sets in the Spinnaker Lounge.
