New York's Rikers Island is a prison most people want to avoid or even escape from if they can, but for one man that apparently wasn't the case.

A 36-year-old convicted sex offender was caught impersonating a prison guard according to local news reports, and may have spent more than a week infiltrating the prison.

The man reportedly had an authentic-looking uniform, ID, and gear, but his almost week long cover became suspicious when he was observed moving inmates from one cell to another.

The suspect, who also has a criminal history of impersonating city officials, was arrested at the Bronx, New York Criminal courthouse after he claimed to be a NYC Department of Correction investigator.
