To celebrate the life of late Ramones guitarist Johnny Ramone, a special tribute took place featuring musicians such as Rob Zombie, Duff McKagan, Billy Idol, the Sex Pistols' Steve Jones and others.

After a five-year battle with prostate cancer, Johnny Ramone passed away on Sept. 15, 2004. Sadly, all four founding Ramones members are no longer with us, but the music is celebrated more than ever, with just under 3000 people attending the event.

At the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, where Johnny is buried, Ramones classics were blasted out in the guitarist's memory. "We're here for one reason, and one reason only: to pay tribute to our good friend Johnny Ramone," Zombie told the crowd according to Rolling Stone. "I miss him every day. He was a wonderful kind guy. There was nobody like him. There was nothing like the Ramones, so we're here for Johnny, Joey, Dee Dee and Tommy." Zombie paid tribute to Johnny further by performing a five-song Ramones set clocking in at under 10 minutes.

"I was freaked out by the Ramones," Duff McKagan said during a Q&A panel. "As a 13-year-old kid living up in Seattle, the Ramones were the first punk band to come play. They were like my KISS. So 10 or 12 years later, 'Appetite [for Destruction]' came out, I got an opportunity to meet the Ramones, and I actually didn't want to because I didn't want to ruin anything. They still remain bigger than life to me." McKagan followed Rob Zombie's set with a band that included Billy Idol and Steve Jones.
