We call them "red" heads, but their hair isn't really red.  So why don't we call them orange heads?  Orange has always been a color, after all - it is in the rainbow.  But for the longest time, it never had a name.  In fact, the first mention of the term orange to refer to the colorwas recorded in the court of Henry the Eighth.  No one used the word orange until the fruit arrived from China in the 10th Century.  Thats why we use the term GOLDfish and REDhead because orange didn't exist as a word when these terms were coined.
