Norfolk, Virginia residents were calling 9-1-1 in droves this past Tuesday (Jan. 8th) thinking a lion was on the loose.

The so called lion actually turned out to be a dog that had its coat shaved to look like a lion.  But before the local police found this out they called the Virginia Zoo to make sure all the enormous felines were accounted for, they found out that they were.

The "wild" animal that had been reported by numerous residents turned out to be a labradoodle named Charles the Monarch who was shaved to resemble the mascot of Old Dominion University.

The owner Daniel Painter explained "He was just roaming around. He does his own thing a lot of the time. He visits the locals on the street and walks on the sidewalk shop to shop."
