Rage Against the Machine’s L.A. Rising Festival Returning in 2014

Not too long ago ago, Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello said he wasn’t sure if the band would ever perform again. And although a lot can happen between now and then, the L.A. Rising concert that they organized and performed at in 2012 will return next year.

A new post on the L.A. Rising Facebook page says, “Plans for L.A. Rising 2014 are underway. August 2014 may seem distant, but the road to L.A. Rising will not be barren. More info to come…”

Last year’s show at the L.A. Coliseum featured Rage Against the Machine, Muse, Rise Against, Lauryn Hill, Immortal Technique and El Gran Silencio.

After the 2012 release of ‘Rage Against the Machine – XX,’ the 20th anniversary edition, fans were hopeful of some activity from the band. Morello felt the same way, and he told Rolling Stone, “It was my great hope that we’d celebrate the 20th anniversary with a five-continent world tour.”

That of course did not happen. But what about future tours? “Once a year, the band meets and very seriously discusses and turns down awesome offers to tour the world,” Morello revealed. “That’s part of the program.”

In the meantime, Rage Against the Machine members are keeping busy with other projects. Vocalist Zack de la Rocha has contributed to a song by the alternative hip-hop supergroup Deltron 3030.

Morello is in numerous other bands, and also did a little fill-in work for an artist you may be familiar with. Earlier this year he played guitar in Bruce Springsteen’s band on an Australian tour while the Boss’ regular axeman Steven Van Zandt was filming a TV show.
