A deputy in Norfolk, Virginia, is having to explain himself after leaving his firearm in a local department store.

Local reports claim the officer returned from a shopping trip to Macy's and realized he did not get home with his service weapon.  It was found before getting into the wrong hands and causing any harm.

He did inform his superiors who stated "immediate" disciplinary action would be taken over a "very serious and unacceptable situation."
