There was a whole lot of rocking going on during Pearl Jam's performance in New Orleans over the weekend. The band finished out their set at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival with a onetime supergroup rocking out the Neil Young classic, "Rockin' in the Free World."

Eddie Vedder welcomed Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith to the stage, while the band's regular drummer Matt Cameron slid over to guitar for the performance. Meanwhile, another percussionist, Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill joined in as the most overqualified tambourine player they could find. Joining in on all the Saturday night (April 23) fun, Chili Peppers' Josh Klinghoffer joined in midway through the song with his guitar in hand. The blistering performance was welcomed by fans, who were visibly clapping along during the song as well.

As they have been known to do, Pearl Jam delivered an epic set with a handful of covers thrown in for good measure. Early in their set, the band tackled Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros' "Arms Aloft," while a snippet of "Save It For Later" was tacked on to "Better Man" during the encore and the penultimate song of the night was a take on The Who's "The Real Me" with horns added in.

Pearl Jam are in the midst of a North American tour with dates booked through May 11 in Toronto. They also have a handful of summer shows in the works. See all of their dates here.
