We're coming into the final weekend of the Peyongchang Winter Olympics. Here is your update:

  • The US didn't medal in women's figure skating, but we weren't really expected to. Remember that Russian that kicked everyone's asses during the team competition? Yeah, well she won gold. Alina Zagitova took gold, followed by her teammate/rival Yevgenia Medvedeva with the silver, and Kaetlyn Osmund of Canada took bronze.
  • The US had a HUGE upset yesterday over Canada in curling and is now in the gold medal match against Sweden.
  • Lindsey Vonn scattered the ashes of her grandfather near the course where she won her bronze medal. He passed away in November, and was actually stationed near Peyongchang during the Korean War.
  • Tara Lipinski hasn't seen her gold medal in over a decade. She said about her medal:

"It goes to museums or exhibits . . . and then, if I ever wanted it back I can, and it has security to make sure nothing happens to it."

  • North Korea has finished all the events it'll compete in and not only did they not win a medal, but they didn't place higher than 13th in any event.
