In two full seasons Super Bowl 50 will be upon us, and since the NFL has traditionally used Roman numerals for numbering Super Bowls, that would make it "Super Bowl L."  But that was before the NFL decided it just didn't look right.

Yesterday, the NFL announced that for the first time since Super Bowl 4 in 1970, they are dropping the Roman numerals for Super Bowl 50.

The NFL says they have been working on the logo for the 50th Super Bowl since April of last year.

They went through 73 versions and decided the "L" by itself just didn't work.

That means the 2016 game in San Francisco will be "Super Bowl 50", but the NFL says they will return to Roman numerals for the 2017 game in Houston, which means it will be "Super Bowl LI."

Should the NFL just drop the Roman numerals after Super Bowl 50? Tell us your opinion in the comments below.
