Scientists from Nipissing University in Canada were looking to see how a person's facial features play a role in a person's sexual relationships and mate selection. In the new study, they found that both men and women with short, wide faces have a higher sex drive and are more sexually motivated. They also found that men with square faces are perceived by people as more aggressive, more dominant, more unethical and more attractive as short-term sexual partners than men with thinner and longer faces. They were also found to have ore easy-going views of casual sex and were more likely to cheat on their partners.

Researchers believe that the different facial proportions may have to do with different levels of testosterone during developmental periods in a person's life, such as puberty. Testosterone plays an important role in forming sexual desires and attitudes into adulthood.
