Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister on His Current Health: ‘I’m Paying for the Good Times’

The health of Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister has been a talking point among fans for a while now. Along with getting a defibrillator inserted into his chest, Lemmy suffered a hematoma and has been forced to cancel a number of shows this year. In a new interview, Kilmister chalks up his health issues as “paying for the good times.”

Obviously, Lemmy’s personal health hasn’t gotten in the way of Motorhead releasing an awesome album, as evidenced in ‘Aftershock,’ which was released in October. However, Motorhead’s most recent postponement was of a European tour, which was moved back to 2014 due to Lemmy feeling “not quite ready to hit the road yet.”

In an interview Lemmy recently did with the New York Times, the living legend addressed his health along with almost every legendary talking point concerning the life of Lemmy. “I just feel really down,” Lemmy says about postponing the tour. “I’ll never get a job again. I’m paying for the good times, I suppose. It’s a mixture of all the things I ever did — and I did plenty.”

Lemmy also claims that when it comes to alcohol, a substance the Motorhead frontman is quite fond of, Lemmy is only sticking to wine these days.

In yet another interesting answer, Lemmy spoke about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “Well, I was not very impressed when I visited the place. I mean, they borrowed my Ace of Spades tour jacket and a pair of boots off me to have in a display, and I never got them back. They lost them.”
