This happened a few weeks ago but just came out now.  Back on July 17th, police clocked a driver in Hutchinson, Minnesota going almost three times the speed limit of 55 in his 2001 Ford Mustang.

Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that 41-year-old Richard Bernhagen of Darwin, Minnesota was doing 148 in a 55 in his 2001 Ford Mustang and when cops pulled him over, he gave an excuse the police had never heard before.

Bernhagen claimed he had to go that fast to "air out" his car.  He stated, "I haven't driven it in a while and was airing it out.  I was wrong."

He only admitted to going 135 but is still facing numerous fines for speeding and reckless driving.
