Kyuss and Fu Manchu veteran Brant Bjork has unveiled a new song, “Charlie Gin,” in advance of its appearance on the album Mankind Woman, which arrives on Sept. 14. The song is an exclusive premiere.

Bjork's 13th solo LP is a collaboration with producer and co-writer Bubba Dupree, a member of his Low Desert Punk Band. Between them, they’ve created a work Heavy Psych Sounds Records describes as “an effortless, unpretentious melding of jazz, R&B and rock steeped in California desert organics with friendly feels and deep grooves.”

Topics on the album include “personal sensitivities, elite hypocrisies, racism, sexism and the daily struggle to find peace, love and understanding in today's American society.” The record features a guest appearance by Bjork’s former Kyuss bandmate Nick Olivieri.

You can listen to "Charlie Gin" below.

“‘Charlie Gin’ is a song that Bubba and myself put together, combining early rock ingredients like ‘church riffs’ and ‘folk-storytelling’ lyrics,” Bjork tells UCR. “Even with it's ‘toasting’ to the early-to-mid ’60s post beat, pre-hippie styled song, it has a super fresh feel and sound. It's one of the songs on the new record that could be indirectly hinting towards where Bubba and I go with our next record.”

Mankind Woman will be available in CD digipak and digital formats, along with multiple limited-edition vinyl versions available for pre-order – 50 test pressings; brown in orange color-in-color; yellow, red, brown color burst; orange, purple, yellow color segment; transparent, yellow, purple, orange, red, brown splatter; and black.

Heavy Psych Sounds will also reissue Bjork’s Tres Dias on Sept. 21 and Local Angel on Sept. 28.
