With the end of the 2015 season happening just a few days ago, three NFL franchises have now filed relocation papers to move to the Los Angeles area.

According to the NFL, three franchises that have been in the rumor mill about leaving their current locations, have now filed the official paper work to get the ball rolling on relocating to Los Angeles.

Los Angeles has been with out an NFL franchise since 1995 when both the Raiders and Rams relocated out of L.A. Ironically now both franchises are looking to come back.

All three franchises have been at odds with their current communities in trying to get new stadiums built to replace their old structures they are playing in now.

The stadium in Oakland is the oldest of the three, O.co Coliseum was opened in 1966.

San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium is second oldest, it opened in 1967.

St. Louis has the newest stadium, the Edward Jones Dome, which opened in 1995.

The NFL released the following statement on the filings:

"The applications will be reviewed this week by league staff and three league committees that will meet in New York on Wednesday and Thursday -- the Los Angeles Opportunities, Stadium, and Finance committees. The applications will be presented for consideration at next week's league meeting in Houston on Tuesday and Wednesday. The relocation of a franchise requires the affirmative vote of three-quarters of the NFL clubs (24 of 32)."

San Diego also mentioned in their statement that they have tried for 14 years, with nine proposals submitted to seven different mayors to get a new stadium built in the San Diego area, all to no avail.

All three franchises have been in the Los Angeles area before, the Chargers began in L.A. back in 1960 but moved to San Diego after their first year in the league. The Rams relocated to L.A. from Cleveland in 1946 and then relocated to St. Louis in 1995. The Raiders relocated to L.A in 1982, then went back to Oakland in 1995.
