The nominees of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2017 were announced Tuesday. Among those nominated were Pearl Jam, Jane’s AddictionBad Brains, the MC5, Journey and Steppenwolf.

Dave Navarro reacted to Jane's Addiction's nomination, telling Billboard, "We're super excited, but it's hard to talk about because it's a nomination. The jury's still out. Of course it's very much an honor and we'd love to be in the Hall, but we don't want to jinx it."

He continues, "We're a three-time Grammy-nominated band that has never won the Grammy, and here we are now with another nomination. It's hard to pull the trigger of excitement just yet, but we're secretly psyched to be nominated."

Detroit legends the MC5 were nominated for the second time, with guitarist Wayne Kramer telling Billboard it's a great accomplishment because "the band never achieved great commercial success and wealth.... I don't want to get ahead of myself. I guess I'll have to leave it up to the people, all my musicians, all my brothers and sisters that work in the amusement industry to recognize the significance of the MC5. The musicians have always been the band's greatest champions."

Hardcore punk pioneers Bad Brains were nominated for the first time this year.  "That was a surprise to me! I never thought people cared enough to make us a Hall of Fame nominee," frontman H.R. tells Billboard. "So, thanks a lot! I'm very honored for this privilege to be on the nominee list."

The induction ceremony for the class of 2017 will be held next April in Brooklyn, N.Y. In addition to music industry insiders, fans also get a vote. For all the details, visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s website.
