Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong has a little extra time on his hands, as the band is taking a break between albums, so he decided to play a surprise show in Oakland on Thursday night (June 12). What made the show all the more special was his band for the evening, which included Green Day sideman Jason White and Armstrong's own son Joey on drums.

Joey Armstrong has his own band, Emily's Army, who have been getting their start in recent years, but the chance to play with dear old dad was truly something special. The bash was held at 1-2-3-4 Go Records in Oakland, with the trio appearing under the moniker Two and a Half Men.

The set dug a little deeper into the Green Day catalog, with Restless Press reporting that 'Church on Sunday,' 'Stuck With Me,' '2,000 Light Years Away,' 'Nuclear Family' and 'Walking Alone' were among the tracks that populated the set.

Joey Armstrong, clearly enjoying the chance to perform with his dad, posted a couple of Instagram videos from the show, and a few other photos and videos from those in attendance can be seen below as well.
