As expected, one of the key pieces of property involved in Frances Bean Cobain's divorce proceedings with Isaiah Silva is the Kurt Cobain 1959 Martin D-18E acoustic guitar that the musician played during his MTV Unplugged appearance. Silva is reportedly in possession of the guitar and has claimed that Cobain gifted the prized instrument to him, while Cobain claims that she would never have given away the family heirloom and wants the courts to help her get it back.

The fight over the instrument began last July, with Silva laying claim to the guitar and Cobain asking for it back. The instrument was reportedly the last guitar Cobain played before his death and there were only 300 of the Martin model made before it was discontinued. The left-handed Cobain also made adjustments to the instrument to accommodate his playing, which makes it all the more unique. Now it's in the hands of the court.

According to TMZ, Cobain has asked the court to allow her to inspect the instrument to make sure that it's been kept in cherry condition and she's asked that the guitar be handed over to an art shipping company for safe keeping until the court battle is resolved. The instrument was once insured for $1 million and experts now believe that its worth several million dollars. A judge has yet to rule on the request.

In other Frances Bean Cobain news, she's been selected as the face of the Marc Jacobs spring/summer clothing line campaign. Jacobs revealed the news by posting a David Sims photograph and offering a bit of reflection on his long association with the famous offspring of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love.

"I first met Frances Bean when she was 2 years old at a dinner with her mom (Courtney) and Anna Sui in 1994 at Bar Six in NYC. I have always wanted to work with Frances. Her beauty, uniqueness, and strength is something I have long admired and respected. Few things remain as constant as my continued inspiration from those whose honesty, integrity, courage, and curiosity lead them to explore and venture beyond preconceived boundaries. Photographed by @davidsimsofficial, I am pleased to share the first image of Frances Bean Cobain for our Spring/Summer 2017 campaign," stated Jacobs in the post, which can be seen below.

This is the first major fashion endorsement that Cobain has done solo, although she did pose with her mother Courtney Love for a Burberry ad last fall during London's Fashion Week.
