There is a difference between going to the gym for an hour and working out for an hour.

According to Counsel & Heal, the average person spends 35% of their time at the gym not working out.

They are either untangling headphones, talking to people, checking their phone, waiting for a machine, or just sitting around.

That means for every hour you spend at the gym, you are only working out for approximately 39 minutes.

55% of the people surveyed said they take breaks to pick songs to listen to, while 32% said they take breaks to talk to people.
