Foo Fighters Confirm November Album Release, Unveil Trailer for HBO Series
Foo Fighters continue to work toward a new album, and while they don’t have a title yet, the band has confirmed that the disc will drop in November. That’s not all they’ve revealed, as fans who caught HBO’s airing of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame highlights special over the weekend likely caught a trailer revealing the name of the band’s upcoming series for the cable network.
The documentary series will be titled ‘Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways,’ with the band heading to eight different cities to not only record new songs for their disc, but also to delve into the history of some of America’s musical hot spots. “This is a musical map of America,” says Dave Grohl in the trailer, which can be seen above.
The frontman went on to say in a statement, “I’ve pulled up the family tree of American music and explored its roots to find inspiration for the next Foo Fighters album.” The band’s journey took them to Austin, Texas, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Seattle and Washington, D.C., with the band utilizing legendary music studios along the way. In addition, the band invited local legends in each city to sit on the sessions.
As for what fans can expect on the new album, Grohl recently stated that it wouldn’t be “a crazy, bleak Radiohead record,” and added, “The music is a progression or an evolution, for sure, but it’s a Foo Fighters record.”
‘Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways’ is expected to premiere this fall on HBO on the eve of the band’s 20th anniversary.
