Dave Grohl: Foo Fighters’ ‘Carpool Karaoke’ Was a ‘Little Uncomfortable’

Recently, rock n’ roll titans Foo Fighters appeared on The Late Late Show With James Corden to partake in his extremely popular segment “Carpool Karaoke.” While fans were treated to an abridged 12 minute version with the band singing all their hits, Foo Fighters revealed in an interview with NME that the actual filming of the segment was a lot less fun than one might expect.

Drummer Pat Smear remarked, “By hour three in dude’s car it got less fun. It kinda went on. When we stopped at Guitar Center, that felt like we were done, but it was like ‘this is halfway.’”

Singer Dave Grohl also remarked that it became “a little uncomfortable,” but didn’t doubt that Corden is a big fan of music. “Oh he definitely is [a music lover],” Grohl said. “And he’s a very nice guy. But y’know, I don’t mind singing my own songs at Glastonbury or The O2 but if I had to sing you a song right now I’d be too embarrassed.”

Smear was also confused by the final cut of the video which left out a lot of content they did. He added, “Singing other people’s songs would have been easier,” to which Grohl agreed, saying, “I could do that all day. We did The Ramones, and Rick Astley, but they didn’t use it. I don’t know why.”

Foo Fighters recently released their newest album, Concrete and GoldIt marks another excellent album for the guys, and went to No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In recent weeks, Foo Fighters have been speaking about many aspects of their band, including how Pantera‘s ‘Open Door Policy‘ inspired the band’s most recent album to include a variety of guests that include Paul McCartney and Justin Timberlake.
