‘Family Guy’ Makes ‘Girls’ Spoof For Emmy Consideration
Despite the fact that HBO’s ‘Girls‘ lost most of its Emmy-nominated categories at the 2012 Emmy Awards, the producers of long-running FOX animation staple ‘Family Guy‘ believe they’ve finally found their wait to consideration. The latest controversial ‘Family Guy’ submission takes aim at the critically debated HBO series, and they might have something of a mess on their hands. Among other places.
Following last year’s racially-charged submission to Emmy voters, ‘Family Guy”s latest bid for Emmy consideration will appear in the pages of The Hollywood Reporter spoofing the season 1 poster of HBO’s ‘Girls’ with Brian, Quagmire, Peter and Joe appearing as Jessa (Jemima Kirke), Marnie (Allison Williams), Hannah (Lena Dunham) and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet).
The tagline? “Here’s a load of comedy to shoot on your chest.” Subtle.
For those unfamiliar with the situation, ‘Family Guy’ has been rejected from the best comedy series category since 2009, while last year’s ad proved significantly controversial with a still image of Peter Griffin captioned “Come on, you bloated, overprivileged Brentwood Jews. Let us into your little club.” Both The Hollywood Reporter and Variety refused to run the ad.
It will remain to be seen if the latest ad does ‘Family Guy’ any favors with the voters, but the image is pretty spot-on regardless. And somehow, we’re guessing Lena Dunham herself won’t be too thrilled with it. Check out the image for yourself below, and leave your thoughts in the comments!
