A teaser video (watch above) has been unveiled for the upcoming documentary 'Soaring Highs and Brutal Lows: The Voices of Women in Metal.' It features numerous female vocalists from bands such as Nightwish, Epica, Delain and Kobra and the Lotus.

The documentary's official site describes it this way: "Explore the energy and emotion of heavy metal through the stories and voices of some of the most prominent women who bring it to life. Follow the paths of these artists working to achieve their dreams, learn what drives them, and how their journeys have unfolded so far."

The film combines interview, concert, and archival footage, and is expected to be released sometime this year. Among the artists participating in the project are Anneke Van Giersbergen, Charlotte Wessels (Delain), Doro Pesch, Floor Jansen (Nightwish, ReVamp), Kobra Paige (Kobra and the Lotus), Marcela Bovio (Stream of Passion) and Simone Simons (Epica).

Speaking of Epica, their latest album 'The Quantum Enigma' was released last week (May 13). It debuted at No. 4 in their native Netherlands and charted elsewhere around the world. This summer the band will be playing numerous festivals, including one in Lebanon. For a complete tour schedule, go here.
