Dave Mustaine's move from Los Angeles to Nashville, Tenn. has been well-documented. The Megadeth mainman uprooted to give his daughter Electra the best shot at having a successful career in country music and it looks like there's even more behind the relocation. Having just wrapped up a pilot for a reality show, the Mustaine family is looking to show the rest of the world what it's been like moving to the country music mecca.

With only the pilot filmed so far, Dave and his family will be seeking a premiere in hopes of launching a series. Electra revealed the news to Rolling Stone when she said, "Everyone knows the story of Megadeth and who my dad is. That story has already been told. But the one that hasn't been told is what he's like with his family, what it's like for him to move to Nashville." With her father's witting charm, she humorously adds, "And what it's like to have him walk into a tractor store and try to fit in. He is funny as heck."

The budding country star has also dipped her feet into the metallic waters in her own way by recording a reinterpreted country version of the Megadeth song "I Thought I Knew It All" from their 1994 effort Youthanasia. "We thought it'd be a great tribute to Megadeth fans for all the years of support," she started. "I wanted to say thank you, because honestly if it weren't for Megadeth fans, I wouldn't be able to try to fulfill my dreams now." Speaking about her roots and putting her own spin on the song, she added, "I thought, let's show everyone this is where I come from, and yes, I am Dave Mustaine's daughter, but look what I can do with it. We tried to make it organic, raw and vocally driven."

The cover has more of a Celtic lean than a country one, so ease up, Megadeth fans! "I Thought I Knew It All" lends itself to the reinterpretation well, especially vocally as Electra noted. To hear the song and see the video, head to Rolling Stone.

When discussing the move, Dave admitted first and foremost it was in the best interest of his daughter's career. He said, “I don’t profess to be a singer first and foremost — I’m a guitar player that sings more than a singer who plays guitar. But with her, she really is. That’s her strong point. For her, this is music city. It’s all about country. It’s where she’s flourishing.”

Megadeth released their 15th studio album, Dystopia, yesterday (Jan. 22) and will be touring with Suicidal Tendencies, Children of Bodom and Havok in North America. For a list of dates, visit our 2016 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours.
