Police in New Hamshire were on stakeout duty for a suspected jewelry thief who swallowed a diamond ring.

The 52-year-old man was caught on surveillance camera swallowing a $3200 diamond ring he allegedly tried to steal from Bellman's Jewelers in Manchester.  He swallowed the ring after a store employee confronted him and refused to buzz him out of the store.

Police got him and obtained a search warrant to get an x-ray of the suspected thief's belly.

He was charged with falsifying physical evidence for swallowing the ring, and felony theft for allegedly swiping the ring in the first place, according to cops.
