You have probably been eating bananas all of your life, and now a couple of stories published online say you have been eating them wrong all this time.

According to Yahoo, a biochemist in England named Rodney Bilton says you should eat bananas while they are still green.

He states that green bananas are much higher in resistant starch, which is the best kind of fiber you can eat.  It's a carb that doesn't make your blood sugar rise, and it can actually raise your metabolism.

By the time the banana is ripe, most of that resistant starch is gone, so the greener it is, the better it is for you.

The second piece of advice about bananas: You should be eating the peel.

Kimberly Snyder is a nutritionist and author and says, "The concentration of fiber in the peel [is] up to three to four times higher [than] the fruit inside.  It also contains a bevy of anti-aging antioxidants and vitamins."

In short, if you eat the peel, it's good for your overall health, your skin, and lowering your cholesterol.
