AC/DC’s Brian Johnson: ‘It’s Very Likely We’ll Be on the Road Again’ in 2014
The future of AC/DC has been in question as of late, mostly due to the ill health of guitarist Malcolm Young. AC/DC have already hit the studio to work on a new album without Malcolm, but stepping onstage without the guitarist is a completely different issue. It couldn’t have been an easy decision, but vocalist Brian Johnson has informed fans that AC/DC will “very likely” hit the road once again before the end of 2014.
Rumors of the band retiring and Malcolm Young suffering a stroke began to swirl back in April, leaving AC/DC’s future completely up in the air. Eventually, it was confirmed that Malcolm Young was indeed battling a serious health setback, although AC/DC did not reveal the details of Malcolm’s ailment.
“After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health,” reads an official statement from the band. “Malcolm would like to thank the group’s diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support. In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family’s privacy be respected during this time. The band will continue to make music.”
In a new post yesterday (June 19) from Brian Johnson via BrianJohnsonRacing.com, the vocalist broke the news of AC/DC’s likely return to the stage:
Hello everyone, i just wanted to thank everyone for their kind words about Cars That Rock. Your encouragement means a lot to me. This was my first ever go at presenting a TV series and even though it may not show, i was real nervous and so am very relieved that you all seem to be enjoying it. We hope to bring you more shows in the near future but, of course, there is the slight distraction of my day job with AC/DC – and it looks very likely that we will be on the road again before the end of the year. So stand by for more music – and more Cars That Rock. thanks – Brian
Stay tuned for more AC/DC updates as news continues to break.
