The Rangers look to continue their recent winning ways against Ian Kinsler and Detroit for a four-game series starting tonight.

The Tigers, 58-61, are another team vying for the same wild card spot that the Rangers so desperately want.

New Ranger outfielder Will Venable is likely to be added to the active roster before the game. He was acquired from the Padres on Tuesday. Look for Venable to get a start this weekend with Hamilton still in the air with his injury situation. There is every possibility Hamilton will go to the DL for his ailing knee.

The Tigers open tonight with Alfredo Simon (10-7, 4.84 ERA) who is 3-4 with an 8.19 ERA in his last 10 outings, going up against Martin Perez (1-2, 5.29 ERA). Perez has had 2 solid starts in a row after a rough start back to his season after injury sitting out most of the year rehabbing last years season ending surgery.

Justin Verlander (1-5, 4.11 ERA) will then go against Colby Lewis (13-5, 4.49 ERA) in a front line matchup from 2011. Historically, the Rangers have gotten the best of Justin Verlander and in 2015 everyone else has, too.

Matt Boyd (1-1, 5.00 ERA) takes the mound in the 3rd game against Yovani Gallardo (9-9, 3.39 ERA) who's rat tail will fit in perfectly in Detroit.

Anibal Sanchez (10-10, 4.99 ERA) is up against Cole Hamels (0-1, 5.23 ERA) who is still in search of his first Ranger win. Hamels had a solid outing in a no-decision last time out.

If the Rangers can play the consistent baseball they have been playing, they should win this series on the road in Detroit.

First pitch tonight is 6:08 p.m. CT.
