Since 2003, the "Barry Gibb Talk Show" sketches on 'SNL' have popped up whenever Justin Timberlake or Jimmy Fallon have appeared on the show, with Fallon playing Bee Gees lead singer Bary Gibb and Timberlake taking on his brother, Robin Gibb. The last time we saw these characters was in 2011 and its return seemed unlikely following the death of Robin Gibb in 2012. However, the sketch made its big return last night and it brought a handful of surprise cameos along for the ride.
Few guest performers seem to get 'SNL' quite like Justin Timberlake, who has a wonderful habit of showing up on the stage and creating classic sketches and characters with seemingly no effort. In most cases, he would easily overshadow the actual guest host, but when that guest host is show alum (and current late night superstar) Jimmy Fallon, there is less overshadowing and more comedic awesomeness.
On paper, 'The Other Woman' sounds like the set-up for a low key domestic drama: Cameron Diaz plays a woman who realizes that the man in her life is already married. However, the trailer for the film immediately takes this premise in a very different direction, as Diaz and the spurned wife (Leslie Mann) team up to take down the lying man in their lives.
Arnold Schwarzenegger said he'd be back, but so far audiences haven't exactly welcomed him with open arms. 'The Last Stand' and 'Escape Plan' may have underperformed at the box office, but that's not stopping the Austrian Oak from continuing his post-Governor action career and 'Sabotage' looks like more of the same, for better or for worse. A new poster for the film debuted at IGN and it's exactly what you'd expect from this kind of movie.
The weekend following a major holiday is always a little slow. The boost from vacationing moviegoers is gone, so everyone tends to take a major dip. Some films end up okay. Some die on the vine. This weekend saw two films weather the storm perfectly fine and one new release collapse on the starting line.
For people who grew up reading in the '80s and '90s, the 'Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark' series will always hold a special place in their nightmares. Over three volumes, writer Alvin Schwartz collected over 100 urban legends and tales of folklore, creating a library of creepy stories that were meant to be, as the title implies, told in the dark. There is still a great deal of well-earned nostalgia surrounding these books, so it should come as no surprise that a movie adaptation is in the works.
After multiple major delays, the long-awaited sequel to '300' is finally nearing release, and now Warner Bros. has revealed the new '300: Rise of an Empire' trailer. After all, we wouldn't blame anyone for thinking that this movie vanished into the ether or simply never existed in the first place. But is the wait worth it? What got accomplished during all of those delays? Will 'Rise of an Empire' live up to the still-popular first film? Ask your own rhetorical questions as you hit play.
Since its 1999 release, David Fincher's 'Fight Club' has gone from box office disappointment to one of the most influential films in recent memory. When the film first achieved its cult sensation status, you just know that conversations were held about crafting a sequel. Now 'Fight Club 2' finally is coming, but it's coming from author Chuck Palahniuk who wrote the original novel, and, surprisingly, the second coming of Tyler Durden won't be another book, it'll be a graphic novel.
In one of the biggest holiday weekends of all time, the combined might of 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' and 'Frozen' proved that yes, ladies can star in major blockbuster movies. We'll see if this lesson sticks (it won't), but between those two and the surprisingly female-friendly 'Thor: The Dark World,' this was a great weekend if you were looking for quality family entertainment that didn't treat its woman characters like crap.
When director Marc Webb took control of the 'Spider-Man' franchise with 'The Amazing Spider-Man,' he must have faced a huge decision: should he stick with a costume similar to the one worn by Tobey Maguire or go in a completely different direction. The final design, while different in the details, was definitely in line with the character's traditional red and blue outfit. However, other options were weighed and some concept art from the film's development has made its way online, giving us a very different look at what could have been.
