Late Alice in Chains bassist Mike Starr may have passed in 2011, but his memory and legacy live on through an annual benefit show. This year's event is scheduled for April 4 at Louie G's in Fife, Wash.

Starr and his sister Melinda, who has spearheaded past benefits, share the same birthday, and organizers are planning this year's event around the special day. Bands like Blacklist Union, Mechanism, Boneshaker, Sons of the Sound and Under Sin are taking part, helping to raise funds for the Highline High School in Burien, Wash.

The school is the same one that both Starr and his sister attended growing up and it is in dire need of repairs and assistance. Check out some of the photos here. For those attending, a $10 donation will go directly to the Highline School for their repairs. There will also be a raffle and auction of some Mike Starr and Alice in Chains memorabilia, plus a merch area that includes t-shirts, stickers and guitar picks for sale.

Even if you're unable to attend, you can still donate at this location. Find out more about the show by following its Facebook event page here.

Starr was the original bassist for Alice in Chains and left the group during their touring promotion for the Dirt album. His struggles with substance abuse would later be detailed during his involvement in VH1's Celebrity Rehab. On March 8, 2011, the musician died from a prescription drug overdose.
