A French driver is lucky to be alive after a trip to the grocery store became a death-defying ride at speeds up to 125 miles an hour, thanks to a serious malfunction.

The accelerator on Frank Lecerf's sports car, which had been adapted for disabled drivers, got pinned at full speed, and even his modified brakes boosted the car's speed.

The quick-thinking driver called the cops as his car hurtled down the highway, and police soon gave him a high-speed escort, trying to keep the roads clear and tollbooths open.

Eventually the car ran out of gas in a ditch in Belgium, after he crossed the border at top speed. Frank Lecerf wasn't hurt, but the stress caused the epileptic to have two seizures at the hospital he entered for evaluation. He plans to sue the maufacturer for the wild ride.
